WHO ARE WE.
We are here to support, connect, and champion the amateur theatre community today and into the future.
The Alliance of Coventry Theatre Societies (ACTS) is a representative organisation dedicated to supporting amateur theatre groups for both youth and adults across Coventry and Warwickshire. Founded by Arran Pallan in June 2020, ACTS was created to serve as a central hub for amateur theatre—fostering community, collaboration, and growth both on and off stage.
Initially, ACTS operated with a paid membership model and a committee structure, allowing societies to influence the organisation's direction. However, in a 2025 overhaul, both membership and governance models were redesigned to better meet community needs. The committee was dissolved, and ACTS shifted to a more open, accessible system where societies and groups affiliate rather than subscribe now. This change highlights our dedication to being a key connection, support, and advocacy point for amateur theatre in the region.
At its heart, ACTS aims to serve, connect, and uplift the amateur theatre community. We bring societies together, foster meaningful relationships, and promote a more unified, inclusive, and sustainable theatre environment.
We are committed to advancing Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion, regularly developing strategies to empower individuals and organisations across all theatre areas—whether on stage, backstage, or behind the scenes.
In 2024, ACTS launched a new branch dedicated to arts management and producing. As Associate Producer for Three Spires Guildhall‘s production of "Legally Blonde" at Warwick Arts Centre, ACTS started providing tailored support for amateur and community-led theatre productions.
These services include Production Management, General Management, and Producing (both Associate and Executive), helping with scheduling, budgeting, logistics, compliance, and creative oversight—so creative teams can concentrate on their core work.
Looking ahead, this initiative will expand, focusing on audience development, funding strategies, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of amateur theatre in the region.
If you’re interested in collaborating, seeking support, or affiliating with ACTS, we’d love to hear from you.
